A Note from the Principals

We want to take this chance to say thank you to the parents and families of our students as we wrap up this last month of school. We are so thankful for your support in checking folders and agendas, helping with homework and to study for tests, volunteering in the building throughout the year, volunteering with PTO, attending field trips, dances, fun events and so much more. MES is one of the best schools in St. Clair County and that’s because of the great teamwork that takes place between school and home. We appreciate the support you give our staff and your children each day. Have a great summer and thank you for sharing your children with us! ~ Mrs. Enriquez and Mrs. Litteken

Field Day Schedule

Field day for K-5 will be on Thursday, May 23, from 8:30am-3:00pm (no rain out date). The students will enjoy fun activities at indoor and outdoor stations all day. Volunteers must sign up in advance and will volunteer for the entire day. The deadline to submit the volunteer form is Friday, May 10.  A Volunteer Form was sent home and is on the website in the Digital Backpack. Adults and students should bring a sack lunch to eat at the park. Student sack lunches may be purchased from the cafeteria. Remember all students should bring a water bottle, wear tennis shoes (no open toed shoes), socks & sunscreen!

News from the Library

Parents can sign up to volunteer on SignUpGenius.  Students will attend with their class during library time. Family Night BOGO Book Fair will be on Tuesday, May 7, from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Park in the back of the building in the lot off Poplar Street and enter the building through Door 13 (by the map), the front doors will be locked. Parents can use our new new feature called eWallet to create an account, add funds and for student shops. Go to Scholastic.com.

Last day to check out books from the library is Friday, May 10.  All books should be returned to the library or fees paid by Friday, May 17.

No money will be sent home with a student.

Internet Safety Week

Summer vacation is almost upon us. Your child may spend more time on the computer and other “smart” devices at home. In an effort to ensure that our students know how to safely use the Internet, we will continue to talk about  Internet Safety during May. Students will hear about such topics as: cyber bullying, smart searching for information, keeping personal information private, discerning good sites from bad ones, talking to others safely while online, and respecting the creativity of others--Copyright law. A great site for parents to see reviews for movies, games, music, TV shows and lots of resources for keeping kids safe online is Common Sense Media.
